Founded in 2003 in Montreal by veteran boxing trainer and cutman Russ Anber, Rival was built from decades of gym-level frustration with equipment that hadn't meaningfully improved in years. Anber started the company with a $2,000 order and a promise to reinvent the industry. The brand has since grown into a global operation with offices in Canada, the US, UK, and Australia. Rival is the most innovation-focused brand in boxing. They pioneered the Wrist Lock closure system for hook-and-loop gloves and introduced angled lace tracks for a more anatomical fit in lace-ups. Their flagship RFX-Guerrero pro fight glove is widely considered one of the best-fitting fight gloves on the market. Oleksandr Usyk, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Artur Beterbiev, Anthony Joshua, and Katie Taylor have all fought in Rival gear.
