Leone 1947
Leone 1947 Founded in March 1947 in Milan by Orlando Leone, a leather goods craftsman who turned his passion for boxing into a manufacturing business. The brand quickly became the dominant boxing equipment maker in Italy, and virtually every Italian boxer of that era wore Leone gloves. The founder's connection to the sport ran deep, with photos showing him alongside heavyweight world champion Primo Carnera. Now managed by the third generation of the Leone family, the brand has expanded beyond boxing into kickboxing, Muay Thai, savate, and MMA. In 2021, Leone launched the "Leone Sport" premium line, handmade in Italy from full-grain cowhide leather with latex padding, complete with hand-signed quality certificates. That line has been worn by fighters like Anthony Joshua, Francis Ngannou, and Katie Taylor in competition. Kickboxing legend Giorgio Petrosyan has worn Leone gloves since 2009. The standard product range is broad, covering over 3,000 items from training gloves to apparel. The brand carries a distinctly Italian design sensibility, blending performance with aesthetic refinement. Outside of Europe, Leone is less well-known than Thai or American competitors, but within Italy and the European kickboxing scene it remains the reference brand. Pricing spans mid-range for the standard line to premium for the handmade Leone Sport products.
